AN ELABORATE LOUIS XIV FRENCH WALNUT AND MARBLE INLAID CABINET

The unfinished plank top with stepped cornice above a relief carved frieze with verte marble inlay is flanked by relief carved foliate forms and recumbent women. The frieze is supported by tapering engaged columns which support a large, stepped cabinet featuring a single locking center door, adorned with relief carving of Mercury making a woman aware of the Gods in the clouds and flanked by marble inlay and carved Greek Goddesses above three drawers. The side panels each contain a locking door with elaborate strapwork carving. The whole supported by columns and a carved and inlaid plinth raised on six bun feet.
Condition: Beautiful patina. Includes both keys. Stable frame.
