Description

A NEOCLASSICAL ENGLISH SATINWOOD PAINTED MANTELPIECE
Early 20th Century
The mahogany plank top with with concave molded edge is supported by a stepped frieze with five burl olive reserves featuring hand painted ebonized urns and swagged pearl garlands, supported by rectilinear legs with trapezoidal reserves of burl olive and ebonized arabesques, all raised on plinth blocks. The whole surmounted by an overmantle mirror and hand painted oval reserve of Mercury seated seaside with medicinal offering all set in a frame of the same style as the mantel.
Condition: Minor chips. Minor lifting of veneer . Mirror and painting in very good condition. Never installed.
111 x 60 x 9 1/2 inches ( 281.9 x 152.4 x 24.1 cm).
