A LOUIS XVI STYLE PAINTED AND PARCEL GILT TRUMEAU
Early 20th Century
The rectangular trumeau with a finely detailed gris painting of playful cherubim in a gilt wood frame of hand-carved acanthus flanked by relief carved gilt scroll volutes and supported by splayed giltwood acanthus leaves flanking an oval acanthus medallion. The painting is supported by a large rectangular mirror in a carved gilt wood acanthus frame flanked by rectangular pilasters. All on an oyster painted ground.
Condition: Spotting to painting. Rub through and oxidation to gilded finishes. Later mirror and minor chips to edges of trumeau.
