A PAIR OF BRONZE DORÉ AND CHAMPLEVÉ MOUNTED SÈVRES STYLE PORCELAIN PEDESTAL URNS
France, 19th Century
Each cobalt egg-shaped urn having two hand-painted reserves bordered by gilded decoration, one depicting a courting couple outdoors in late eighteenth century dress signed by Rochette, the other with a peaceful country scene; the lid, neck, and foot decorated with multicolor champlevé floral designs; all set on a shaped onyx base with four short feet; stamped “MADE IN FRANCE” on underside of metal base plate; the marble and metal are later additions.
Condition: Slight wear to gilded surface of lid knobs and edges.
13 ½ x 4 ½ x 4 ½ inches (34.3 x 11.5 x 11.5 cm).
