1814 Contract Rifle S. Cogswell Troy NY Firearm
.54 caliber, 33" octagonal-to-round barrel, top flat of barrel marked SNY at the breech. lockplate marked under the pan S. Cogswell Troy. Fullstock in walnut with cheek piece, with brass patchbox, brass buttplate, brass triggerguard, brass nose cap, brass ramrod ferules, brass sideplate. Barrel held to stock by three wedges. On the left side of stock opposite of the lockplate stamped in three lines is A.W.P., SNY.
Barrel has been lightly cleaned with some very light staining on the octagonal part of barrel. Lockplate is very sharp and crisp with some light freckling. Wood is excellent with all of the original finish and very nice opened-grained look.
