Bainbridge (George Cole) The Fly Fisher's Guide,

first edition, 8 hand-coloured engraved plates, mostly of flies, wood-engraved pictorial initial, with small sheet of pencil drawings of flies bound in, light spotting and soiling, a tall copy with wide margins in the original boards, uncut, rebacked in red roan, rubbed, corners worn, [Thacher p.32; W&S pp.20-21], 8vo, Liverpool, for the Author, 1816.

***Bainbridge was the first to show artificial trout and salmon flies - Scotcher's The Fly Fisher's Legacy only had natural trout flies. An important work, regarded as the precursor of Ronalds' Flyfisher's Entomology of 1836. "One of the text books of the fly fisher." Westwood & Satchell.
