Description

Mongolia, China, Ca. early 19th century AD. Well-rendered, frolicking pair of dogs with intricate details, each with long hair curls, large bug eyes, ball under one paw. It was not uncommon to see these sacred lions guarding tombs or placed in front of government buildings to scare evil spirits. They are fantastic lions not only infused with artwork, but with meaning. Each measures 10”L x 7-3/4”H.
