Pre-Columbian, from northern Peru, ca. 1000 to 500 BC. Ancient bone implement used in the inhalation of hallucinogenic powders, carved with a wonderful image of the Chavin god of the underworld - later became known as Ai Apec in the Moche culture that followed some 500+ years later. Carving further enhanced with added red pigment. 6"L, custom stand.
