19th Century breech loading swivel cannon. Brass barrel measures 23 1/2 inches long, with a bore diameter of about one inch. Breech opens in a downward motion, sliding shell ejector in outward motion. When closed, turn knob on back of cannon screws into place. Cannon is trunion mounted on brass swivel and stand, which are of later construction. Bears Liege, Belgium proof mark on top, just in front of breech. Inside of breech below ejector is marked "LEJEUNE-CHAUMONT," an experimental firearms manufacturer in Britain, with a known patent filed in 1859, for a different experimental breech system. Appears in very good condition.
