18th Century British blunderbuss, later converted to percussion in the 19th century. 16 inch barrel, with trumpeted muzzle. Marked "HENSHAW" with British proof on lock plate, East India Company marking behind hammer, and the date 1779. There have clearly been subsequent repairs, and the obvious conversion to percussion, but none appear later than 19th century. Several hairline fractures in stock and small piece missing at bottom of butt plate. Hammer and trigger mechanisms remain in working order.
