Civil War Norris & Clement contract rifled musket. Marked on lock plate "S.N. & W.T.C. FOR MASSACHUSETTS", and dated 1864 behind hammer. Samuel Norris and William T. Clement of Springfield, Mass. produced 11,000 contract rifles during 1863 and 1864. barrel measures approximately 39 inches. "U" marked screw retained barrel bands. Bore is very good, mottled grey patina on barrel and metal surfaces, and stock has dings and scratches, but no cracks or chips. Overall very good condition for the age. Caliber: .58 Serial #: None
