Pair of Chinese ivory hand carved figures depicting Emperor & Empress. The emperor holding ceremonial sword with hand to beard. The Empress is depicted holding ruyi scepter with phoenix head dress. Each figure is wearing layered robe with intricate water and fire design with lotus blossoms. Includes fitted wooden bases. Calligraphy mark Da Ming to bottom of each. 18th/19th century. Each measures approximately 15" height + 1 5/8" (38.1cm + 4.1cm). Total weight approx. 2736 grams.
