PIERCED SHEET IRON WHALE OIL LANTERN, cap with worn black paint, strap ring handle, top with pierced stars and diamonds, fixed colorless globe, removable base with bayonet mechanism and fitted with a large font, No. 1 fine line collar. Fitted with a brass double-tube burner. Mid 19th century. 14 3/8" HOA, 6 3/8" D base.
Provenance: The Phillip M. Sullivan estate collection.
Very good condition with minute denting, light rust and pitting, globe undamaged. Burner base with some soldering.
