Description

PATENTED SHEET IRON HOT BLAST TUBULAR LANTERN, bail handle, tube marked "PAT'D APRIL 2, 1867 / MAY 28, 1867 / JANUARY 7, 1868. / MAY 4, 1869", colorless globe with lavender tint fitted with a brass and tin mechanism, possibly for extinguishing and marked "PATD NOV 6 1900". Fitted with a brass burner, thumbwheel marked "J. H. I. PAT FEB. 1, 1870." Fourth quarter 19th century. 19" HOA, 10" H to top of cap, 5 3/4" D base.

Provenance: The Phillip M. Sullivan estate collection.

Condition

Very good condition, repairs to underside of base, globe with normal roughness to rims, rust to globe mechanism. Burner with some minor denting.
