BRASS U. S. COAST GUARD BLACKOUT MARINE LANTERN, polished, bail handle, removable cover for globe maintenance, colorless globe with moveable brass shutter which can be rotated for light adjustment, top of base fitted with a band marked "U. S. COAST GUARD", removable brass font with spring mechanism to underside of base, No. 1 inset collar. Fitted with a Holmes, Booth & Haydens chimneyless burner. Third quarter 19th century. 14 3/4" HOA, 11 3/4" H to top of cover, 7" D base.
Provenance: The Phillip M. Sullivan estate collection.
Excellent condition with minute dents, globe base with flakes/roughness and top with some polishing, font with some splits and light repairs. Burner undamaged.
