A HOPI COTTONWOOD KACHINA DOLL
c. 1920

with straight legs and semi-circular feet, the bent arms carved separately and attached to the body with small nails, wearing traditional costume of white kilt with "brocaded" and "woven" sashes, and red body paint with yellow shoulders, surmounted by a white case mask featuring rectangular eyes, a tubular mouth and a corn motif on each cheek, flower elements in place of ears and at top
