Description
U.S. Special Model 1861 Contract Percussion Rifle Manufactured by Lamson, Goodnow & Yale Company. No visible serial number, .58 caliber, 40-inch round barrel with fixed front sight and double leaf rear sight. Metal parts finished in the white. Lock and breech dated 1864. Lock marked U.S./ L.G- & Y/ WINDSOR-VT. Straight, one-piece walnut stock with three bands, two sling swivels, and curved buttplate. Loading rod. Condition: Good. Metal coated with an old layer of varnish giving a mottled effect to the surface. Small abrasion on the muzzle. Stock with moderate scratching and a few scattered dings. Bore dark.
