Pair of British Percussion Traveling Pistols by Clive, London. .62 caliber, 6 5/8-inch octagonal barrels with silver bead sights. Top flats marked: London. Engraved breechblocks with gold inlaid and dentate bands at breeches. Engraved tangs and screws. Engraved cocks and case-hardened locks marked: Clive. Figured walnut stocks with vacant silver wrist escutcheons and checkered grips. Silver wedge escutcheons. Engraved and blued steel furniture with swivel ramrods. Blued steel fore-end caps. Contained in an associated green felt-lined partitioned walnut case with circular brass lid escutcheon and accessories, including brass combination ball and powder flask, corrugated and pewter oilers, glass vial and single cavity bullet mold. Condition: Pistols. Both are very good, the barrels with grey-brown patina. Slight traces of silvered case-hardening on locks. Wood very good to fine. Mechanically crisp. Accessories showing age wear and patina. Case with heavy wear, internal portion of lock missing, splits to wood on interior rim.
