Description

Springfield U.S. Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle. Serial No. 509830, .45-70 caliber, 32½-inch barrel with fixed front sight and adjustable rear sight. Straight walnut stock. Circle P firing proof on the underside of the wrist; 1890 dated inspector's cartouche stamped on the left side of the wrist. Unit property mark stamped on top of the butt 9/B/30. Two barrel bands, two sling swivels, one stacking rod, curved metal buttplate, and sliding ramrod style bayonet.
Condition: Good. Metal with a brown patina and surface rust. Several dings on top of the barrel just aft of the muzzle. Stock with scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically crisp. Bore dark and dirty.
