Campanian, Athens, Greece, Ca early 4th century BC. Large bell krater - used in mixing wine and water for banquets and celebrations. Side "A" depicts a standing warrior in full battle regalia confronting a group of 4 maidens, one lounging upon a stool, her himation draped off her shoulders, the other three standing holding various implements - a patera, palm frond and mirror. Side "B" shows 2 male and two female youths standing in long garmets having serious discussions. 16-1/2"H x 17"D at widest.
