Description
Johnny Craig and Al Feldstein Crime Patrol #13 Complete 8-Page Story "Edna Sunday" Original Art (EC, 1949). Johnny Craig and Al Feldstein teamed up on this story, using their joint pseudonym "F. C. Aljon." Johnny Craig wrote and drew most of this story. EC expert Bill Mason, in his art analysis of this story wrote, "Feldstein's only contribution is the pencils from panel 5, page 5 to the end." The overall art paper measures 15" x 22", with an image area of 13" x 18". Some of the blue under-penciling shows from beneath the inks. The title splash on page 1 has a fascinating art correction. The top, corrected panel has come loose, revealing the original panel art beneath it. This art, under the large portrait of Edna Sunday, is a close-up scene of a man being garroted with a rope. How interesting that this early pre-Code Crime art was edited with such restraint. Craig would later go on to do some of the most famous, and gruesome, cover scenes for EC. The Crime Patrol title stats at the top of each page have fallen off, leaving a glue stain.
