Description

NASA 1963-Era Space Food Pouch. A triangular-shaped plastic pouch, 4.75" x 9" overall including the germicide tablet at top. Labeled: "Blended Juice, 6 oz. water; 2 minutes." This is one of the earliest examples of food developed for the long duration space flights of Gemini and Apollo. Included is a 10" x 8" NASA glossy from 1963 showing several of these pouches with a caption on the verso explaining their development. Note that the pouches in this photo look much more appealing than this nearly forty year-old example. Rarely seen. Fine condition.
