Ed White II: Society of Experimental Test Pilots Membership Certificate and Matching Tie Tack from his Personal Collection.
An attractive 12.25" x 14.75" (sight size) certificate matted and framed to an overall 18.25" x 24.5". This August 1965-dated certificate "...warrants that Edward H. White II engaged in the profession of experimental flying is particularly qualified and has been elected and certified a member of this professional and educational association and is granted all insignia and privileges in accordance with the Constitution of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots". It is signed by the president and secretary of the society. Also included in this lot is a tie tack with a matching logo to the certificate; this was owned and worn by White. Both in excellent condition.
This society is still in existence today, now in its fifty-sixth year. From their website: "The Society of Experimental Test Pilots is an international organization that seeks to promote air safety and contributes to aeronautical advancement by promoting sound aeronautical design and development; interchanging ideas, thoughts and suggestions of the members, assisting in the professional development of experimental pilots, and providing scholarships and aid to members and the families of deceased members."
