Description
Gordon Cooper: 1965 Pioneer of Hawaii Aviation Award Plaque from the Family's Collection. A shield-shaped wooden plaque with overall dimensions of 6.25" x 11" x 0.5". A mounted 5" x 6.5" metal plate has an Aerospace Year 1965 graphic surmounted by an eagle at top with the following text beneath: "Presented to/ L. Gordon Cooper, Jr./ Pioneer of Hawaii Aviation/ in recognition of/ Contributions to Achievements/ in Air Transportation". It is signed in facsimile at the bottom right by John A. Burns as Hawaii Governor. Cooper attended the University of Hawaii for three years in the late 1940s. Fair condition with some scratching and soiling.
