Apollo 14 Flown National Flag of Venezuela Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 6" x 4" cloth Venezuelan flag that accompanied crewmembers Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa, and Edgar Mitchell to the moon on Apollo 14. The design of this flag was in use from 1954 to 2006 and is a tricolor of yellow, blue, and red with an arc of seven stars centered on the blue stripe and the coat of arms at upper left on the yellow stripe. Dr. Mitchell has signed the flag in the red stripe: "
Edgar Mitchell/ Apollo 14/ Flown to the moon on Kittyhawk". This is the first space flown Venezuela flag that Heritage has had the privilege to offer. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Edgar Mitchell" on his personal letterhead, stating (in part): "This letter certifies that the accompanying 4" x 6" flag of Venezuela was carried in my personal preference kit (PPK) from January 31 to February 9, 1971 during the Apollo 14 mission..."
