Apollo 15 Flown Flag of Hungary Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A 5.875" x 4.375" cloth Hungarian flag that accompanied crewmembers Scott, Irwin, and Worden on Apollo 15's journey to the moon, July 26-August 7, 1971. The design, adopted in 1957, is a horizontal tri-color of red, white, and green. Worden has signed in the white stripe: "
Flown to the Moon on Apollo 15 Al Worden CMP". This is Heritage's first offering of a flown flag from this country. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a letter of authenticity signed "Al Worden" on his letterhead, stating (in part): "I hereby certify that this flag from Hungary included with this letter went to the moon aboard Apollo 15 in the spacecraft 'ENDEAVOUR'. It remained in the command module during the lunar orbit phase of the flight."
