Here in the great Northwest we have some of the best hunting in the entire universe! We also have more than our fair share of real life mountain men. One such man, about the size of the port-a-potty recently paid us a visit. He walked in the front door and he said "My great grandpappy owned a bank, he's dead, you all want to buy these coins?" During the course of this transaction, this mountain man, who gave me permission to tell his story over the Internet, explained to me that back when grandpappy was alive, he always said "Buck, when silver hits $50 you go down there and you sell." He wanted some extra cash to purchase some kind of a special all-terrain vehicle outfitted for hunting...he just had to have it! The big hunt could wait no longer. He drove a hard bargain, but we finally agreed to his price, because most of these coins in the pile are almost uncirculated full AU. Grandpappy only had a few tellers all through the late 1940's and 1950's. He would ask them to pull out of their drawer and check for any nicer Walking Liberty Half Dollars.
