The coin photographed here is a genuine United States Mint produced proof silver coin. This is a different manufacturing process than any mint state or regular business strike. Typically these coins have shiny fields and somewhat muted or sometimes even frosty features on the raised part of the coin. The major grading companies delineate the difference between proof and mint state before the numerical part of their grade is assigned. If the coin is mint state they use MS if the coin is proof they use a PF or PR.
