Mario Carreno (Cuban, 1913-1999), abstract of a seated woman musician, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1947 lower left, 31 1/2" x 23 1/2". Provenance: Alfonzo Hernandez Cata family, (author, diplomat, publisher) Havana, Cuba, then to a private Pennsylvania collection. Hand written certificate of authenticity from his widow, Ida Carreno Gonzalez, includes positive certificate of analysis for age appropriate pigments of the period, from CAMA, The Center for Art Material Analysis, Westmont, Illinois. A similar abstract titled "Fiesta nocturna”, 1950, sold in October, 2011 in Madrid, Spain for over $77,000.
