Isidore Jules Bonheur (French, 1827-1901)

La laitière, alternatively titled Milkmaid and Grazing Cow, 1887
Signed "I BONHEUR" l.r., foundry stamped "PEYROL ÉDTEUR" [sic] on the reverse
of the base.
Bronze with dark brown patina, 12 7/8 x 6 3/4 x 17 in. (32.7 x 17.1 x 43.2 cm).
Condition: Loss to the milkmaid's knitting needle.

Provenance: Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Leighton McCready, Pelham Manor, New York and West Reading, Connecticut; by family descent to his son Rear Admiral Lauren Strong McCready (1915-2007); by descent to a private New England collection.
