Great Rarity on the Bank of Baltimore

Baltimore, MD, The Bank of Baltimore, $5, Choice Fine.
Haxby MD-15-C42. A very early and important note on this historic bank within this major port of the time. This is the first of this rare type we have had in a sale and it is boldly accomplished and dated 1812. At the upper left is a female seated with a medallion “5”. Interestingly, the note is payable to DeWitt Clinton the notable New Yorker of the time in black pen. A lovely note for the Maryland collector or anyone who appreciates quality obsolete note rarities.
