19th century, unsigned, depicting a man splitting a tree trunk, his right arm draped, on an integral rectangular base, together with a later carved wood plinth, the bronze alone, 30'' H x 14.5'' W x 15.25'' D, est:$1000/1500. Provenance: Private Collection, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
The plinth alone: 36'' H x 19'' W x 19.5'' D. General marks, scratches and rubbing to surfaces. A heavy scratch to left leg- 2'' long. An area of oxidation to lower right side of back - 1'' Dia. Some dirt accumulation overall. The plinth with rubbing, marks, scratches and shrinkage cracks commensurate with age.
