New York'', mahogany secondary wood, the U-shaped superstructure enclosing cupboards and drawers, over a green leather-covered sliding writing surface above two short drawers on square tapering legs raised on casters, decorated overall with hand painted flowers, baskets and garlands and trompe l'oeil fluting, molding and string inlay, 40.5'' H x 51.5'' W x 27'' D, est:$800/1200. Height of writing surface: 31''. Good condition overall. General marks, scratches, nicks and wear commensurate with age and use. A few heavier nicks to legs. Scattered losses to veneer, including two 1'' diameter losses to front edge of writing surface; a 3'' x 2'' loss and a 1'' x 1'' loss to top; a 2.5'' x .25'' loss and a 1'' x .25'' loss to rear edge of top. A 6'' chipped loss to interior drawer divider- does not affect functioning of drawer. Crazing to painted decorations. Dimples to leather surface. Some long scratches to top.
