Morris (William) The Story of the Glittering Plain,
one of 200 copies on Flower paper, printed in Golden type, wood-engraved border and initials designed by Morris, engraved bookplate of Freeman Bass, original vellum with washleather ties, yapp edges, spine titled in gilt, uncut, very slightly soiled at edges, preserved in later green cloth folder and slip-case, [Peterson A1], small 4to, Kelmscott Press, 1891.

***Originally intended to be illustrated by Walter Crane, "but, as Crane later recalled, 'he was so eager to get his first book out that he could not wait for the pictures, and so the Glittering Plain first appeared simply with his own initials and ornaments'...Hence in 1894 Morris produced another edition of the book (see A22) - the only KP title to be printed twice - with illustrations by Crane".
