end of Chapter XXXV and beginning of Chapter XXXVI, printed in red and black in Golden type, wood-engraved centre border and initial designed by Morris, with wood-engraved illustration 'The talk of two women concerning Ralph' designed by Arthur J.Gaskin, framed and glazed in wide oak frame by Morris & Co., old manuscript note tipped to verso mis-spelling Gaskin's name as Gaskell, [Peterson A39], large 4to, Kelmscott Press, [c.1893-94].
***Featuring one of Gaskin's unused illustrations for the book. The type was re-imposed and the work issued with four illustrations by Burne-Jones. This leaf shows considerable difference to the final printing (see previous lot for the final published version, p.260)..
