In his biography Radical Diplomat: Life of Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, Donald Gillies writes how, whilst in Rangoon, Kerr used to regularly swim the Yangtzee River and 'having met Ernest Hemingway at a party dismissed him derisively: "Tough!
