Description

IRISH GEORGE IV STERLING TEA SET BY JAMES LE BASS, DUBLIN, 1827-28, THREE PIECES:Sterling silver set includes 1 teapot, H.6", W.11 1/2", 1 creamer, and 1 sugar bowl, W.9" to the handles; each piece of squat shape with repousse flowers about, raised on four feet with mask knees. Matched hallmarks include Hibernia, harp crowned, king's profile, and date letter G, with maker's mark "I.L.B." enclosed, and engraved crest of an arm raising a cross. Totaling approximately 74.9 troy oz.

Condition

Troy ounce weights are approximate, as follows: teapot-42.4; creamer-12.5; and sugar bowl-20.0. The ivory heat resists on the teapot have fine, age-related cracks; the sugar bowl has numerous small dents to the well and a solder reinforcement at the very base of one handle (underside). Chs
