An exceptional example of the Empire period, this side board has a sunk center with mirror and scroll supports, flanked by carved cornucopias. The top drawers and center cupboard have glass knobs. Below the long center drawers is a line of gadrooning. The four columns have Corinthian capitals. On the center door of the cupboard is a convex fan design that is often seen in pieces by Anthony Querville. For this reason and others, this sideboard has a strong attribution to Querville. This sideboard is on the cover of the book, Philadelphia Empire Furniture by the Boor family (a free book is available with the purchase of this sideboard). This sideboard is part of the ex-collection of Dr. John Boor. Philadelphia, c. 1820-30. H 59” | W 72” | D 24.5”
