Victorian Ebonized Work Table, mid-19th century, the oval top hinged and opening to a void interior, above a frieze fitted with a slide, raised on lyre-form end supports joined by a turned stretcher and ending in splayed legs to gilt bail feet, the whole with polychrome accents in the chinoiserie taste, h. 30-1/4", w. 21", d. 16".
In good overall condition. The top, however, has an inward warp to its center. Minor paint touch up. No sign of missing elements. The lyre ends have old repairs and faint crack lines show where they were re-glued at one time. There is light wear to the paint on the legs and stretcher. The interior has a more recent caot of green paint. The entire outer surface appears to have been overcoated with some sort of finish to protect the paint.
