A VERY FINE FRENCH DIRECTOIRE GILT BRONZE AND MARBLE "AMOUR GLOIRE" FIGURAL CLOCK, CIRCA 1800. Depicting the well sculpted and tooled wind figure of cupid supporting a shield form plaque embossed Amour Gloire, with Grecian hamlet containing wind doves atop a squared clock case flanking a figural gilt bronze arrangement of a shieved sword laurel wreath and quiver of arrows raised on a marble base with gilt bronze floral mounts. The dial inscribed A Paia with silk thread suspension. Height 16.75 inches (42.5 cm).
