AN EXTREMELY FINE AND LARGE JAPANESE IVORY OKIMONO, MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912). Well carved as a man with two playful young children, one carried on his back, each with realistic animated facial expressions and clothing with deeply carved folds, extending tied sashes, and surmounting a rockery form plinth, incised chop mark on base. Height 13.5 inches (34 cm).
