Pair Imperial Chinese Dragon & Phoenix gold thread on silk, length 30 inches, width 7 1/4 inches. In 1921 the Wulsin's witnessed the Imperial procession from atop a mountain temple when everything was draped in blue. They also befriended members of the Imperial family. The Wulsin Expedition to China (sponsored by the National Geographic Society, is documented in the book Vanished Kingdoms, A Woman Explorer in Tibet, China & Mongolia, 1921-25. The Wulsin's collected many specimens which are included in the collection at Harvard University.
