Photographer: Rosemarie Nohr (b. 1946). The art collectors Otto and Etta Stangl. Circa 1952. Vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver reproduction press print on Agfa-Brovira paper. 23,2 x 17,8 cm. Photographer's stamp and address label, typed descriptive paper label, and annotated in pencil on the verso.
The art collectors Otto and Etta Stangl opened one of the first modern galleries in an apartment in Munich shortly after the end of WWII. With their gallery and the exhibitions they held there, they helped to reintroduce German art to Germans and those outside of Germany. This photo was recently chosen for the cover of Segieth's comprehensive book about the Stangls. - Corners and edges bumped, minor retouching for publication, signs of handling and use, otherwise in good condition.
