Seldom seen Mount Washington “Chick Head” shakers nestled within a twig and leaf Rogers Smith silver plated holder. The pink shaker has white enamel berries on a leafy vine, the pale blue shaker has wine and pink carnations. The blue shaker has a 1/2 inch chip on the edge of the rim that is concealed by the “chick” head cover. The shakers measure 2 1/4 inches. The holder is impressed “Rogers Smith, Merriden, Conn”, “Quadruple Plate” and 093 beneath. Height 5 1/2 inches. A like set is pictured on the cover of “The World of Salt Shakers, Volume III” by Mildred & Ralph Lechner, text on page 118. The holder shows a nicely aged patina. The shakers deftly hand decorated. The combined set are very unique and a must for the advanced collector!
