Description

Porcelain vase with lavish decoration of woodbine covering most of the surface, arrayed by Margaret McDonald in 1936. Impressed with the Rookwood symbol, the date and “Special” shape S 2139 and monogrammed by the artist on the side. Additionally, as this is a “Special” vase, the notation that it is being “Presented to Our President Honorable Guy W. Cox Commemorating his visit to Cincinnati, Ohio October 19, 1936.” It appears that Mr. Cox was president of the John Hancock Insurance Company during the 1930s-1940s. Height is 11 5/8 inches.
