Dull Finish vase in crushed, “French” form, decorated in 1882 by Albert Valentien with a night time scene of birds flying amidst clouds and benefiting from the use of the rare silver metallic glaze. Impressed Rookwood in block letters, with the date, shape 102, a G for ginger clay and with a kiln mark and incised with the artist’s initials. In excellent, original condition. Height is 9 5/8 inches.
