About the Item:
An 18th C. Louis XIII Style Limestone Mantel from France - Loire Valley -Condition appropriate with age. This stunning antique French Louis XIII style limestone mantel is from the Loire Valley in France, and is from the late 1700Ís or earlier. The crown is a simple stepped down molding and its frieze is centered by a molded limestone tablet bearing the Royal Coat of Arms of France, The Triple Fleur-de-Lys. This rests upon straight lined limestone blocks forming 2 legs with an ovolo top. ( Due to our installation being freestanding, the ovolo has been recessed. It can be flush with the bottom of the freize.) The back sides show where the mantel was recessed into a stone wall and later carefully removed. This mantel is suitable for both medium and large rooms, and also goes well in rooms with ceiling heights from 12ft. on up. It can make an average room appear much larger, contrary to what most people think. This magnificent period stone mantel is for the discerning buyer.Exterior Dimensions: H=88, W=86 3/4 (including frieze), D=46 1/8 (including what was in the wall)Interior Dimensions: H=63 1/8, W=69 3/8.
