FREE-BLOWN SAUCER-BASE WHALE OIL LAMP, colorless globular font raised on an applied colorless medial-button stem and cobalt blue conical saucer-edge base with folded rim and rough pontil mark. Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. and others. 1825-1830. 6 1/4" H, 3 1/4" DOA font, 4 5/8" D base.

Catalogue Note: A very rare and desirable early American lighting device. An identical example resides in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection. It was acquired in 1946 from the collection of Mrs. Michael Heidelberger of New York City (46.77.16).
Undamaged with just a hint of wear to the font.
