219: Two Illustrated Reference Books on Early U.S.
Two heavily illustrated reference books on early U.S. gold coins, including Garrett & Guth's Encyclopedia of U.S. Gold Coins 1795-1933: Circulating, Proof, Commemorative, and Pattern Issues (2nd edition), Atlanta: Whitman Publishing / Smithsonian, 2008 (signed copy #229 of 250, leather bound, with pricing guide); and Adams' classic work Private Gold Coinage of California, 1849-55, Its History and Its Issues (reprint of 1913 edition). The latter contains sections on the California State Assay Office, Moffat & Co (1849-53), various Californian private mints (1849-55), and pattern and experimental pieces. Minor wear to covers of both, but both are VG+ to near Fine condition. [BK-4, BK-22]
