Framed oil on canvas board, Village Harbor Scene with Boats, by Walter Farndon (American, 1876-1964), signed ''Walter Farndon'' lower right, board: 14''h x 18''w, overall: 17.5''h x 18''w. Provenance: Estate of Herbert Coope (Douglaston, Long Island, NY). Descended through the family to the current owner, Ann Coope (Oakland, CA). Mr. Coope was a successful business man whose company provided the granite for the construction of Rockefeller Center in New York City in the 1930s. Farndon and Coope were both business associates as well as friends. Farndon lived and worked on the third floor of the Coope residence for many years.
